Her mother was the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys. Eidoolon was either the daughter of Cleodice and the sea god Poseidon, or of his son by Helicaon, Perieres. Mythology Eidoolon's name means "rising sun" or "sun-shower", from eidó (εἰδώ) "rising" + eûlos (εύος) "shower" or "stream". As she was one of the Dioscuri (Eros and Phaëthon), she had the role of 'rising sun' of the day and'shower' of the night. She was the mother of Helicaon. In some traditions Helicaon's mother was Iphimedeia instead. Family Her name is similar to another character, Eidothea, who was born to Helicaon and Aegialeia.
